SummaryTwo cases of solitary pyogenic liver abscess are reported. In both patients percutaneous catheter drainage guided by sonography or computed tomography resulted in quick recovery. Antibiotics were administered for a short period of time. The drainage technique is set out in detail and the advantages over conventional surgical drainage or antibiotic therapy alone are discussed. The importance of sonography and computed tomography in the diagnosis of pyogenic liver abscess is pointed out with the help of some images.
