Editor's Note: Doctor Pauline S. Powers is our Guest Editor for the Psychosocial Forum. Doctor Powers is a nationally recognized expert in the field of eating disorders. She is a professor of psychiatry at the University of South Florida, and she currently serves as the director of the Division of Psychosomatic Medicine and the director of the Eating Disorders Program at that institution. In addition to the recognition she has received for her extensive work with eating disorders, Dr Powers' research and publication in the area of burn care is also well-known. Two of her current areas of interest are (1) the neuropsychiatric complications of electric burn injuries and (2) the subjective and objective measurement of burn scars.
