This new imaging modality has the potential for identifying cerebral pathology earlier and more clearly than other techniques currently in use. Implications for diagnosis and management of diseases of the brain are discussed in detail, as are the safety, hazards, and contraindications. NMR imaging is expected to have a substantial impact in expanding our knowledge of brain physiology.
