Hepatotoxic agents can be classified into those that are intrinsic toxins and those that provoke idiosyncratic reactions in the host. Idiosyncratic reactions may be the direct result of hypersensitivity or be secondary to a toxic metabolite of the drug. There is no evidence that acute drug-induced pancreatitis can lead to chronic pancreatitis. Management strategies are discussed.
