摘要:
Although unpredictability is the watchword with respect to influenza outbreaks, epidemiologic research over the past half century suggests that pandemics (probably always due to a new type A mutant virus) occur about once a generation when herd immunity has declined and the number of susceptibles is accordingly high. Epidemics are much more frequent; those caused by type B are milder than those due to type A viruses.
