SummaryA survey of 40 patients with long‐standing atopic eczema was carried out to test for the presence of certain psychological traits which had been reported in studies in earlier decades. A series of standardised personality tests was administered to these patients and the results compared with the findings for a normal group for each test. It was demonstrated that atopic eczema patients do have significantly high levels of anxiety and problems in dealing with anger and hostility.
