AbstractThe mortality ofThaumetopoea pityocampaduring the pupal stage was generally very high (60–96%) and was greatly influenced by the soil moisture. The prolonged pupal diapause lasted for one additional year during of which the increased soil moisture resulted in the decrease of the number of the emerged moths. The number of eggs per female moth was not influenced by the soil moisture. The practical aspects of the above factors were also discussed.
