Evidence for the genetic basis of drug resistance in tuberculosis is mounting. The point mutations in drug-resistant bacteria that have recently been identified may be crucial to the development of future therapies for tuberculosis. Details of the work in this field and an update on diagnostic techniques were presented at a conference organised by IIR Ltd in London, UK, earlier this month.
