AbstractThe reaction between 1 : 2‐diaminoethane hydrate and 1 :6‐dibromohexane furnishes polyamines containing straight chains of dimethylene and hexamethylene groups separated by nitrogen atoms. A small quantity of a cyclic amine, 1‐(2′‐aminoethyl)‐1‐aza‐cyclo‐heptane, is also formed and the yield of the latter is relatively increased when very dilute solutions of the reaction components are used.A survey is made of the reaction between an excess of 1 : 2‐diaminoethane hydrate and the various
