The 20th Annual Meeting of AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) was held from 1 to 8 May this year at the Boston Marriott (Copley Place) Hotel. The conference's theme‘Transitions in Health—Care Delivery’was chosen to emphasize the changes in health—care over the last 20 years. The meeting's co—chairmen, Drs Michael Neuman (Case Western Reserve University) and John Pearce (University of Texas at Austin) assembled a scientific programme with papers on such new techniques as diagnostic imaging without film and applications of process control to infusion technology; new approaches in such clinical areas as cardiovascular diseases and perinatal medicine, and new experiences in clinical engineering and management.
