AbstractThe 4‐oxo‐1,3‐dioxins (V) are prepared by cleavage of hydroxymethylene Meldrum's acid (I) with the alcohols (II) and subsequent cyclization of the dicarboxylic acid monoesters (III) with the ketones (IV).
