SummaryThe clinical and bacteriological observation of a 37-year-old man withStreptococcus suiscapsular type 2 (group R) meningitis is described. Complete cure was obtained with intravenous ampicillin. The epidemiology ofS. suisinfections in man is reviewed. An occupational exposure to pigs or pork products could not be demonstrated in our patient.
