Rh(III) is extractable from nitric acid solutions of fission products and other wastes with thioethers at elevated conditions. DRh-values > 1 can be reached. They strongly depend on extraction temperature and -time, on nitric acid concentration of the aqueous phase and on the kind of diluent for tlie thioether. The structure of alkylgroup substituents does not remarkable influence the extraction power of thioethers. Insertion of further donator groups (O, N) into the extractant caeses no further advantage. Co-reactions of nitric acid with the extractant seems to be of essential importance for the extraction mechanism of the thioethers.
