摘要:

Optical excitation of electrostatic modes in front of an infinite step in the plasma density can lead to total absorption of the incident light. The conditions for complete mode conversion are analyzed for inhomogeneous and thermal surface layers and possible applications for laser plasma experiments are discussed.
