摘要:

Results are discussed of original research on the effect of the main variables involved in the detection of early visual loss in the central field, with particular reference to the use of flashed stimuli of short duration of exposure (approximately 200 milliseconds). The importance of retinal adaptation, stimulus size, luminance, and retinal location is discussed, together with the effect of age. Variations in visibility, that can be regarded as within physiological limits, are indicated.
