摘要:
Interference among reradiated fields from atomic and molecular dipoles is usually used to account for the effect of matter on the phase velocity of an electromagnetic wave. A simple derivation of this effect is given based on the use of Hertz vectors. This treatment can be generalized to the case of a moving medium and the calculation of the Fresnel drag coefficient.
