AbstractThe large pine shoot beetle,Blastophagus piniperda(L.) was monitored in pine woods of southern Bohemia using a mixture of (+)‐alpha‐pinene (99% pure) and ethanol (96% pure). The terpene (+)‐alpha‐pinene mixed with ethanol in various proportions was placed inside four‐walled barriers: the method was compared with the method of trap trees. The average of 272 adultB. piniperdaper 1 four‐walled barrier were caught in 1985, 254 in 1986 and 221 in 1987, respectively. The average of 249 entrance holes per trap tree were recorded, representing approximately 462 adults. The mixture of (+)‐alpha‐pinene and ethanol at 1:7 seems to be the most effective: the average of 53.5% of all adult beetles caught in the barriers were lured by it.ZusammenfassungZur Anlockwirkung von Alpha‐Pinen auf den Waldgärtner, Blastophagus piniperda (L.) (Col., Scolytidae)In südböhmischen Kiefernbeständen wurde die Anlockwirkung der Mischung des Terpens Alpha‐Pinen mit Ethanol auf den Großen Waldgärtner,Blastophagus piniperda(L.) untersucht. Die Arbeiten fanden im Gebiet des Forstbetriebes Hluboká nad Vltavou, bei České Budějovice, Seehöhe 380 m, statt. Vom pflanzensoziologischen Standpunkt aus gehören die Waldbestände der Eichen‐Buchenwald‐Vegetationszone an.Das Alpha‐Pinen mit Ethanol wurde in unterschiedlichem Verhältnis in speziellen Fangeinrichtungen (viereckige Barrierefalle) ausgebracht. Im Jahre 1985 wurden durchschnittlich 272 IndividuenB. piniperdapro Falle, 1986 = 254 Individuen und 1987 = 221 Individuen gefangen.
