SummaryField trials of Immobilon® in the capture of western kob (Kobus kob kob) has shown that the drug is well tolerated with no adverse complications. Kob were successfully immobilized at a dose rate of 8–12 mg per animal with a weight range of 33–71 kg. Animals were found to cover 75–300 m before dropping. Use of the shoulder as the darting spot had a better response than the flank region. The use of Revivon® as antidote at a dose rate of 30mg animal‐1was dramatic with the animal fully aware of its environment in 1–2 min.
