AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between selected patient and family variables and family attendance at hospital memorial services. In a fifteen month period, 15% of the invited families attended a memorial service. Attendance at the services was found to be associated with (p≤.05): relationship of next of kin, patient's religion, and number of days the patient was hospitalized in the six months prior to death (excluding the last hospitalization).
