AbstractRat brain synaptic plasma membranes contain two receptorlike binding sites for the inhibitory transmitter γ‐aminobutyric acid. Postsynaptic junctional structures (postsynaptic densities) isolated from these membranes contain only the higher affinity site enriched more than sixfold compared to the membranes.
