AbstractMore boys than girls are referred for pupil services in elementary schools, which may be the result of sex-role stereotyping and indicate the need for preventive services for preadolescent girls. The author's study also indicates that supportive social work intervention may make the boy-to-girl referral ratio more nearly equal.
