Laboratory experiments on the structure of spatially accelerating flows in a smooth open channel are reported. The influences of acceleration (i) on thevelocity profiles; (ii) on the turbulenceintensity profiles; and (iii) on the longitudinal evolution of thebottom shear stressare investigated.
