AbstractThe preparation of acetylenic carbinols and glycols is described, using as condensing agent the system potassium hydroxide plus acetals (or ethylene glycol dialkyl ethers); this system has an optimum absorption of acetylene at 80°. The mechanism of the reaction is discussed
