In order to extend the concept of a convex set to the subsets of nonlinear manifolds, the so-called relative convexity to a convex cone is defined. The relative convexity provides the possibility to generalize the concept of a convex function in such a manner that it can be used to formulate the criteria of global optimality for a class of nonconvex optimization problems.
