摘要:

It is shown that a prediction of the change of shape of a pressure pulse during its progression through a propagating medium may be deduced directly from the general equations of hydrodynamics. The distance at which a shock front forms may be determined as the radius of convergence of the solution. The effect of viscosity may be included.
