A companion paper (Young et al 1987) has introduced the concept of discrete-time, state variable feedback control systems based on non-minimal state-space (NMSS) representations, in which the state vector is defined solely in terms of the sampled inputs and outputs of the system. The present paper develops the theoretical background to this method of control system design and generalizes the approach to multi-input, single-output (MISO) systems.
