Hæmangiopericytoma, first described by Stout and Murray in 1942, is a rare vascular tumour, related to the glomus tumour, in which the proliferating cell is the pericyte of Zimmerman, situated in the capillary wall outside the reliculin sheath. This position distinguishes the pericyte from endothelial cells in the capillary wall. Hæmangiopericytoma lacks the organoid formation of the glomus tumour. In accordance with its tissue of origin, the tumour may occur in widespread parts of the body. However, it is most commonly found in the musculo‐skeletal system and skin.
