THE anniversary dinner of the Society took place on Tuesday evening, May 3, at the Trocadero Restaurant, under the chairmanship of the President, Mr. Thomas Fairley. About eighty members and guests were present. Among the latter were Sir Thomas Elliott, K.C.B., Secretary of the Board of Agriculture; Sir Ernest Clarke, M.A., Secretary of the Royal Agricultural Society of England ; Mr. John Lithiby, Assistant Secretary of the Local Government Board; Dr. T. E. Thorpe, C.B., F.R.S., Principal Chemist of the Government Laboratory ; Professor W. A. Tilden, D.Sc., F.R.S., Presi- dent of the Chemical Society ; Mr. David Howard, J.P., President of the Institute of Chemistry ; Dr. Clarence Cooper, Master of the Society of Apothecaries ; Mr. C. H. Babington, President of the Inatitute of Brewing ; Dr. Groves, President of the Society of Medical Officers of Health ; Professor J. Millar Thomson, LL.D., F.R.S. ; Mr. Thomas Terrell, K.C.; Professor A. K. Huntington; Mr. Richard B. Pilcher, Secretary of the Institute of Chemistry ; Nr. F. W. Beck ; Professor Herbert Jackson ; and Mr. Aubrey W. Rake. After the usual loyal toasts had been given by the President, the following were proposed : ‘‘ Government Departments,” by Mr. W. W. Thorpe, C.B., F.R.S. ; ‘‘ The Society of Public Analysts, by Mr. David Howard, J.P., responded to by the President; and The Guests,” by Rlr. Otto Hehner, responded to by Professor W. A. Tilden, D.Sc., F.R.S., and Mr. Thomas Terrell, K.C. There was also a programme of music.
