Each technologic advance has an impact not only on diagnosis but on prognosis and treatment. The improvements in imaging capability necessitate continuing reassessment of the uses of ultrasonography and other modalities. The youngest of them—agnetic resonance imaging—is expected to provide a range of information unequaled by techniques currently in clinical use.
