摘要:
Complement's role in SLE pathology is not limited to tissue damage at immune complex deposition sites. Circulating split products can cause inflammatory cells to occlude small vessels and damage their endothelium—all in the absence of IC deposition. In SLE, split-product levels reflect disease activity and predict flares better than conventional complement measurements.
