With recent advances in the dual-chambered pacemaker technology, the recognition and correction of pacemaker malfunction has become an even greater challenge for the critical care nurse. This article is designed to help you recognize pacing failure in both the temporary and permanent dual-chambered pacemaker, to identify possible causes, and to choose appropriate nursing actions.
