SUMMARYProtoplasts that remained metabolically active for several days were obtained by treating cells ofMicrocystis aeruginosa, Anacystis nidulans,andAnabaena flos‐aquaewith lysozyme. Photosynthetic and respiratory rates were near those of control cells. Lysozymeresistant cells were isolated which may be genetic mutant
