The installation of a phased chopper in front of a rotating crystal time‐of‐flight experiment is described. The results on the dynamics of the system, the background improvement, and the luminosity of the chopper rotating crystal spectrometer are presented. It is found that the significant background is reduced by a factor of 10, while the luminosity is decreased by about 10% only.
