Most computer applications and program routines required in business have already been written. Thus, each new development project contains some level of redundancy. This redundancy offers MIS managers an opportunity to save time and money and to reduce the risk of building new systems. Unfortunately, this opportunity brings with it the cost and risk of searching for, evaluating, and modifying existing software.
