Nursing administrators are challenged to establish a cli-mate that facilitates the use of appropriate frameworks to guide nursing. The author presents an extension of a self-care practice model demonstrating that the focus of nursing strategies changes as the patient's health state changes. Practical application of the proposed model is included.
