A framework is presented that will help ambulatory care nursing departments paiticipate in the development of patient care evaluation programs. The framework identities the unique aspects of ambulatory patient care and the deficiencies of the present system. The author suggests an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care and emphasizes the need for careful delinition ol the nursing rolein the ambulatory setting.
