Among a group of 288 patients subjected to partial colpocleisis and followed 5 years or longer, 92.2% had good or excellent long-term results, while 6.9% judged themselves either slightly or not improved. One patient later developed endometrial cancer and was successfully treated surgically. This experience indicates that the Le Fort partial colpocleisis is the procedure chosen in the treatment of the aged, debilitated patient with severe uterovaginal prolapse for whom coital function is no longer of concern.
