Observations were made of 736 fresh abortuses obtained from therapeutically interrupted pregnancies of approximately 30—160 days ovulation age. Sex chromatin tests in all conceptuses and morphologic studies of gonads and external genitalia whenever possible revealed that the lower the sex ratio, the younger the embryonic age. The importance of standardization of a simple technic for determining the sex of embryos is discussed in detail, enabling comparison with earlier investigations.
