Adeno-associated satellite virus type 1 was disrupted by lyophilization and subsequent rehydration with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), or by treatment with lithium thiocyanate (LiSCN).The virus subunits, measured on disrupted capsids or individually, have a mean diameter of 4.1–4.6 nm, depending on negative staining conditions.
