The pharmacist's role in the multidisciplinary approaches to delivering better patient care was discussed during the Second Annual Disease Management Congress [Washington, D.C., US; September 1997]. This conference, which was attended by over 1600 healthcare personnel, focused on building infrastructures for total health management. The key role that pharmacists play in both providing services to the geriatric population and improving the outcomes of elderly patients with diabetes mellitus were areas of discussion.
