Some remarks on the taxonomy and nomenclature of theMarattiaceaeare made. TheMarattiaceae, consisting of the generaMarattiaandProtomarattia, are treated as one of the four living families of the order ofMarattiales.The family nameMarattiaceaeis illegitimate, since it was nomenclaturally superfluous when published. It is used here in the hope that this name will be included in the list of theNomina Familiarum Conservanda.
