Warfarin is the drug of choice for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with stenotic artery strokes, according to a recent study. However, another study in patients with atrial fibrillation, showed that the use of warfarin or aspirin should be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the risk factors of individuals. The trial results were presented amid much discussion at the 19th International Joint Conference on Stroke and Cerebral Circulation held in San Diego, US, earlier this month.
