Several 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) agonists were used to induce maturation inSpisulaoocytes and antagonists to block 5-HT-induced germinal vesicle breakdown. Among the analogs tested, only 8-hydroxy-2-(di-n-propylamino)-tetralin induced maturation ofSpisulaoocytesin vitroand mianserin blocked 5-HT-induced maturation. The present findings suggest thatSpisulaoocytes may possess 5-HT1Areceptor sites.
