The conversion of a Beckman IR2‐T infrared spectrophotometer to double beam operation, using as many units of the original instrument as possible, is described. The Brown recorder incorporated in the original system is used as a ratio recorder by applying the reference signal to the slide wire input. A compensation method for signal intermodulation, previously not used in similar systems, is described and some technical difficulties are pointed out.
