摘要:

An experimental study into the interaction of Rayleigh waves with surface defects is presented, with particular reference to the subsequent radiation of shear waves into the bulk of the sample. A pulsed laser source is used for this purpose, with detection by either interferometry or an EMAT. Schemes for estimating the defect depth are presented. The results of experiments using both artificial slots and real fatigue cracks will be discussed.
