AbstractThe 83rd Council Sessions of the World Medical Association, held in Paris from March 18–22 1975, considered among other things the question of torture and inhuman treatment.The resulting Guidelines for Medical Doctors Concerning Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment in Relation to Detention and Imprisonment outlined below will be brought before the Fifth UN Congress on the Presention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders.
