MMPI results of 54 advertising men and 44 engineers were compared. Overall, the personality profiles of the groups were surprisingly similar, with marked elevations on K and Ma, lesser elevations on Hy and Pd, and a depression on Si. These patterns were believed to reflect self‐confidence, enthusiasm, ability to present oneself in a favorable light, use of repression and denial in handling psychological stresses, and an inclination to solicit social intercourse. The two groups differed significantly on seven of the scales.
