摘要:

India is the seventh largest energy consumer in the world. As the major contribution towards meeting the energy requirement is from fossil fuels, the emission from these fuels is enormous. A study is made on the available potential of energy both commercial and renewables in India. The utilisation pattern of commercial energy with regard to renewables is analysed. Renewable energy substitution in the total energy scenario is determined using an Optimisation Model. The model minimises cost-efficiency ratio. The parameters considered are social acceptance, demand, potential, reliability, emission and employment. The model determines that in 2020–21, biomass direct combustion will be utilised to an extent of 2.92 × 1015kJ and solar PV would be utilised to an extent of 2.32 × 1015kJ. The model is also run for 2000–01, 2005–06, 2010–11 and 2015–16. The results are presented. It is found that biomass direct combustion and solar is expected to have an exponential increase in India over the years.
