Mr. Chairman and Friends: It gives me great pleasure to be amongst you on this great occasion when you are celebrating the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Acoustical Society of America. This has been made possible by the invitation extended to me by the Society and by the Government of India's deputing me to attend the function. It is indeed a pleasant duty to thank both the Acoustical Society of America and the Government of India for their generous gestures. And hereby I convey the greetings of India!The subject I have chosen for a talk on this occasion is “The Absorption and Dispersion of Ultrasonic Waves in Liquids,” a subject in which I have been greatly interested in the past few years.
