Summary:Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction is a progressive, disabling affliction of the hindfoot that is frequently refractory to conservative management. Pathology varies from a synovitis to partial or complete rupture of the tendon. Reconstruction of the tendon with the flexor digitorum longus tendon in properly selected patients can produce satisfactory results in most patients, thus avoiding or delaying hindfoot fusion.
